Recertification Requirements for Holistic Nurses

Successful completion of 100 contact hours of Continuing Education in Holistic Nursing within the five years period preceding the date of expiration of the certification period. At least twenty percent (20%) of the contact hours must directly address Holistic Nursing. The remaining contact hours can be related to holistic methods of practice; studies that facilitate self-care and growth; and transformation within a holistic context. Appropriate documentation of continued education (certificates of completion) must be submitted with application for Recertification.


Washington Board of Nursing State Continuing Education Requirements:

CE Requirements for RNs: 45 hours of continuing education every three years

CE Requirements for LPNs: 45 hours of continuing education every three years


Special Requirement for RN, LPN and APRN:

Washington State licensed RN, LPN, and APRN must obtain six CE hours in suicide assessment, treatment and management. HB 1424, which passed during this legislative session (June 2015), provides that the one-time training must be completed by the end of the first full reporting period after January 1, 2016 or during the first full continuing education reporting period after initial licensure, whichever is later. The bill clarifies that training completed between June 12, 2014 and January 1, 2016 will be accepted as meeting the requirement. HB 1424 takes effect on July 24, 2015. This is included in the required CE hours, not in addition to.
