New Mexico Accepts Courses / NCBTMB Accepts Courses


New Mexico Continuing Education Requirements: Massage Therapist: 16 hours biennially
New Mexico Accepts 8 hours of Massage Therapy Online Continuing Education Courses.
CE must be completed by October 31 biennially according to date of original licensure


Special Requirements:

All technique courses must be hands on

Requires 4 hrs of Ethics

CPR/AED and First Aid must be maintained and kept current. Courses cannot be online and must be taken from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or EMS

Instructor registrants: Effective starting with the October 31, 2017 renewal cycle. In addition to the requirements for renewal of their massage therapy license, each registered massage therapy instructor will be required to complete sixteen (16) hours of continuing education, eight (8) of which must consist of the knowledge, skills and abilities of teaching adult learners. Eight (8) hours may be taken on-line. All technique courses must be hands on and shall not be taken on-line


NCBTMB Requirements for Board Certification Renewal: 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Requires 3 hours of ethics, 3 hours of research and there is a limit of 4 hours allowed in self-care coursework. The NCBTMB accepts 24 hours of courses. Continuing Education Requirements by NCBTMB

The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) is the national governing body responsible for credentialing Massage Therapists. Massage Therapists must renew their board certification every 2 years. During that 2-year period, Massage Therapists are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education. Three (3) of the 24 hours must be in research. Three (3) of the 24 hours must be in ethics. There is a limit of 4 hours allow in self-care coursework. The NCBTMB accepts 24 hours of courses.
