57 yo female with a partially torn left Achilles tendon

This patient stated that at this point after one month, that the boot does not seem to make a difference. This patient was instructed to stop using the boot and replace it with a compression wrap. She was given ice and elevation instructions to help reduce the swelling.

 

This patient was rescanned for new orthotics and received them in one week’s time.

 

 

 

Treatment consisted of introducing ranges of motion with gentle ankle alphabet drawing in space. Low force adjusting tool was used to treat the subtalar joint. Cold laser and continuous ultrasound were used at the posterolateral ankle.

 

This patient needed to return to work for financial reasons. She was returned with seated limited duties and restricted lifting instructions. There were no steps at work or at home. This patient was given Kinesiotape to support her ankle in addition to the compression ankle support.

 

Question: What parameters need to be met for this patient in order to introduce more aggressive stretching and strengthening exercises for rehabilitation?
