Treatment

She is referred for a surgical consultation.  An anterior approach hip replacement is performed.

The advantage to this hip replacement approach is that it has a smaller incision, reduced scarring, and faster recovery time because it exposes the hip without detaching muscles or tendons from the bone.

Outcome

The patient made a full recovery.  She required no physical therapy sessions and returned to work within sixteen weeks.  She works full-time in a standing job.  The outcome was favorable.
